How the Man Who Saved My Life is Inspiring Troubled Youth

Seven years ago, I found myself trapped in a cave - fighting for my life after cliff jumping next to a waterfall. The only thing I could hear was the pounding the waterfall next to me; I didn't think any of my friends were around to know that my life was almost over.

Just as I was sure that the end was near, I heard a splash in the water. My friend Stevie had jumped in to rescue me. He looked into my eyes, reached out his arm, and told me to hold on tight. I did just as he said, relieved and more thankful than ever. He pulled me over to the ledge and handed me off to a friend.

26 Things I've Learned by Age 26

I just celebrated my 26th birthday on Sunday and figured it's time for another reflection. I've had a myriad of experiences since I wrote my last 'lessons learned' entry at the age of 23. Enjoy, and maybe you can learn from some of my experiences!

1. The morning is the most important part of the day. Wake up early and do something productive; I promise, big changes will happen to your life!

Everything Happens for a Reason

I have experienced a lot of major, life-changing events in my 24 years. I spent my high school years hopping around different boarding schools, was in an abusive relationship, had my life saved at the cost of a friend, just to name a few.  Through all of these very difficult times, I have learned a lot of life lessons.  After all of these events, life has always seemed to fall into place and I always end up just fine.  I have really come to believe that everything happens for a reason.  Especially after something very odd that happened to me yesterday..

23 Things I've Learned by Age 23

I know a lot of bloggers are creating these lists right now.  Life is all about experiences so why not take a look at some of the things you have learned along the way..

1. Consistently keeping your personal spaces (bedroom, house, car) clean makes life so much easier and less stressful.

2. It's a terrible idea to go to the grocery store hungry.

3. If you own a credit card, pay off your entire bill at the end of the month.

4. You can never live your life based on opinions of others.  You'll never be your own person if you do.
