6 Things You Need to Stop Saying If You Want to be Happy

Negativity won't get you very far, and if you're trying to go places in life, you should take a look at your attitude. Have you been down and out lately? You can start by removing the following sentences out of your vocabulary:

1. "They're lucky, I'm not."

No, we are all given the same amount of time in our days. We have all been through struggles. We all have many capabilities. Ever heard of the guy with no arms and legs who speaks at motivational seminars about how great life is? Think about that next time you think you're too unlucky to be happy. You're not "unlucky," you just haven't learned how to change your perspective.

2. "My job sucks."

Then get a different one or learn to like the one you have. Maybe you're seeking perfection? Not possible.

3. "I have no friends."

Maybe it has something to do with your negative attitude? People like to surround themselves around positive people. Your bad attitude is probably making others feel lousy and could be running them off.

4. "I always attract bad guys/girls."

So take a break for a bit and figure out why that is. Maybe you haven't quite figured out who you are and what you enjoy yet. It's tough to find a decent person to date when you don't even know yourself. Cool off, go do some soul-searching for a bit, and get back into the dating game later. There's no rush, really. Think you must be married before you're 30 years old? Many people who got married before that age wound up in divorce. Just let it happen when it's supposed to.

5. "My car, living space, cell phone, etc. sucks, and I can't afford anything nicer."

Wait... you have all of those things? Some people don't even get to enjoy those items at all. Enjoy what you have and maybe put your focus on enjoying experiences rather than materials. Think about the memories that will be important to your future self. Will you cherish the memories of your materials or experiences?

6. "I'm always too busy to do the things I want."

Then something in your life needs to change. Stop over-scheduling yourself and try to allow yourself some time to relax. Some people aren't comfortable with themselves enough to enjoy some downtime and then they ware themselves out. Figure out how to enjoy some downtime; maybe you just need to try it a few times before you really start to like it.

Have you noticed a trend? All of the solutions to the negative quotes listed involve making a change in your life. You are free to make changes any day, which is why people won't always sympathize when you complain about how tough life is on you.

This is your life, and you only get one, so make it enjoyable before it's too late!
